Journey to a Food Forest
In February we had a day of imagining a food forest at Boundary Rd. This was our second session with Food Forest Mentor Dan Kelly that followed on from our visit to the Food Forest at Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae in December last year.

Ōtara - Papatoetoe Eco-Neighbourhood had a great year in 2024 with lots to reflect on and celebrate. Project Lead Caragh Doherty shared some highlights and plans for Ōtara- Papatoetoe Eco Neighbourhood groups this year.
The pantry continues to be filled
A recent Fill the Pantry workshop took place in a home kitchen in West Auckland where the group made preserved golden peaches, chutney, pickles and sweet chilli sauce.

Preserving the kai of Raumati
It's that time of the year when the māra kai is abundant and all the hard work in Spring is paying off. The season of Raumati - summer in Tāmaki Makaurau brings us tomatoes, corn, beans, cucumbers, courgettes, lu, kamokamo, onions, capsicums, chillis, eggplant, berries, avocado, stone fruits just to name a few!

One year of ‘Fill the Pantry’ workshops
Over the past year Sera Schwalger has been delivering Fill the Pantry workshops with community groups across Tāmaki Makaurau. The kaupapa is about saving money, sharing resources, making most of the seasonal harvest and bringing people together.
MANAVA for Climate Resilience - website is LIVE!
‘MANAVA for Climate Resilience’ or ‘MANAVA’ was formed in August 2023, informed by generations of tangata whenua and tagata moana. We believe our mahi within MANAVA is an attempt to contribute to a long legacy of caring for moana, whenua, and whānau.
Kaiwaka Māra @ Boundary Rd - A tour
At 274 Boundary the garden is in full swing, there are flowers and native shrubs and trees at the front of the property, providing food for our pollinators and manu (birds). Head up the drive past the bike hub and you will see some raised beds with spinach, lettuce, bananas, strawberries, hue, peas thriving with bee loving borage, calendula and nasturtium.
