The pantry continues to be filled
‘Fill the Pantry’ pantries and cupboards are looking pretty good at the moment. Project lead Sera Schwalger pivots with the seasonal fruit and vegetables available as well as with last minute changes to cooking venues! A recent Fill the Pantry workshop took place in a home kitchen in West Auckland where the group made preserved golden peaches, chutney, pickles and sweet chilli sauce. For most participants it was their first time preserving and they were happy to take home jars of preserves hey had made themselves as well as the recipes to continue preserving kai at home.
Sera’s tips:
If you don’t have a garden shop at a local market, prices are cheap and fruit and vegetables are locally grown.
Prepare for winter now by filling your pantry with some homemade preserves.
