Pacific Climate Justice exhibition

23 September 2024

In 2022 PVA's climate catalysts Mesepa Edwards and Faiesea Ah Chee alongside fellow catalysts Katja Phutaraksa Neef and Dylan Chand, created an opportunity for our community to express how they feel about reducing carbon emissions.

The Pacific Climate Justice exhibition at The Onehunga Community Recycling Centre, (the first Māori Pacific led resource recovery centre in Tāmaki Makaurau and home to the exhibition), was the first exhibition piece which brought a voice to a topic that is everyone's responsibility - our most vulnerable islands of Tuvalu, Kiribati & Tokelau are sinking.

The Pacific is challenged by so many environmental changes and a global mandate to reduce our carbon emissions by 2030. This puts us at one of the most critical times in history.

It's a community effort to engage in an epic journey forward, raising awareness and building more platforms where our community can express how they feel about climate change and if they even understand what carbon emissions are.

This is a call to action, to think globally and act locally. It takes a village!

Thanks to Joe from Kokomedia for capturing this story with the support of Auckland Council, Foundation North, Unesco and the village of climate warriors.
