Zero Waste Events
Zero packaging at community kaikai.
Pacific Vision Aotearoa (PVA) supports groups, churches, and larger community events to become Zero Waste. This is an aspirational goal where nothing is sent to landfill, a place of no return. It is a fun journey of going back to the future. To the wisdom of our ancestors who wasted nothing, and saw value in everything.
Since 2017, PVA has been supporting the annual ASB Polyfest held in Tāmaki Herenga waka. It is the largest Polynesian school dance festival in the world. Each year the festival theme reflects the values and identity of the diverse cultures that participate.
We walk alongside event organisers to support the leadership team, their contractors and vendors on current best practices in an ever changing environment. We promote a culture of Caring for Creation through reuse and connection with local champions and providers.
Our Zero Waste events are more than recycling. It’s about treading lightly on our whenua, minimising waste, using only what we need and giving back to Papatūānuku so we can continue to celebrate for future generations to come.
