Our Creation Story
Pacific Vision Aotearoa (PVA) was envisioned in Tāmaki Herenga Waka Auckland in 2014. The founding members saw the need for environmental advocacy and action through the cultural lens and experience of the People of Te Moana Nui a Kiwa.
Later in 2016, PVA was established, working alongside Pacific communities in Tāmaki Herenga Waka to empower and resource people with regenerative ways of living.
In Aotearoa New Zealand, the PVA waka is guided by tāngata whenua, mātauranga Māori, alongside the collective wisdom of Te Moana Nui a Kiwa.
The amalgamation of this collective wisdom and knowledge provides inlets for new connections, inspiration and solutions so Pacific peoples in Aotearoa can improve their wellbeing through Caring for Creation.

Growing strong communities to Care for Creation. This reflects our commitment to advocate and deliver regenerative community-led solutions in harmony with Mother Earth.
We acknowledge the challenges posed by the climate breakdown and we also know the rich narratives and wisdom of our ancestors are marginalised yet are crucial for effective guardianship of the whenua, Moana and people.

Caring for Creation emphasises self-care, care of the land, of the sea and care for others. From our mission, PVA acknowledges the urgency to engage with collective and indigenous voices to do what is right in practical ways that also builds resilience, social impact and be a foundation for regeneration.
